I painted this as a study of Welsh Artist Adrian James' painting of the same name and he states that "Saint Govan's in South Pembrokeshire is one of his regular haunts. In summer it is a regular sun trap and can be very tranquil in the evenings. The Chapel there dates from before the Norman conquest and the place is surrounded by legend and myth. In winter, the storms can be ferocious." While I was studying with him in Wales, the tide had been lowest it's ever been so I could only get the sense of the life of that place, and the storms *are* ferocious!
