Below is a picture of Skip, in August of 1969. Skip was a dog of indeterminte breed that was chained to a run in Herman's neighbor's yard. Everyday Herman would come home from school, stand at the fence and have a staring contest with Skip. Invariably after two minutes Herman would cry "Wolf!" and the neighbors would come running. On June 6, 1970, Herman's neighbor moved away. Herman still cries "Wolf!" every afternoon at 3 o'clock.
