Art: Dalai Lama by Artist Paul Helm
Orange is a colour of special symbolism to Buddhists and often their robes are died using natural saffron dyes.
The background of the portrait represents the Himalayas of Tibet
The Dalai Lama often says: "I am just a simple Buddhist monk - no more, no less". I have used this on the frame which thus becomes an integral part of the image
I have put Dharma wheels (Buddhist symbols) on the 4 corners of the frame. The Dalai Lama stands for non violent protest and is a shining and refreshing example to us all above the evil and violence that we are constantly bombarded with day in and day out. The Dalai Lama learnt a lot from Genghis Khan who was perhaps the most successful non violent protester who succeeded in obtaining the Independence of India from the British Empire.
