I am from Algonquin Anishinaabe (Indian) descent. Some of my new art reflects on my Algoquin Anishinaabe roots. I asked my cousin, who has made a career working for Indian rights, to title this painting. She dubbed it "The Intellectuals", and explained that the Fish Clan represented wisdmn. I have learned that The Fish Clans claim their ancestor was the first to emerge from the sea. They also believe people of the Fish Clan were the teachers and scholars. Thanks for stopping by!
