Movement of the Spirit
An Original Painting
Completed in Studio, IN PERSPECTIVE STUDIO
By Texas Artist
L Pace, c2006.
Pulls of color in this tremendous composition. There are six layers of Holbein Duo Oils on this Modern Impressionistic painting. Driven by the pure spirit of adventure, this composition evolved from a free spirit with in...work and reworking the canvas between the layers, the horses began to emerge.
Originally I began painting my Taylor 914 guitar...and as I began to push the paint on the canvas, the guitar was not working, but I did see the horse beginning to emerge from the canvas....and then I saw a second horse to the side...the colors began to extend them selves and began to weave and the composition began to form.
The freedom of pushing paint on the canvas and watching what evolves is often risky, but something my students seem to thrive with. Allowing energy to pass from your body through your hands onto the canvas, in this case the evolution of the horse from what was a musical painting shows the power of the horse in my mind and body. The movement of colors and the pulls of direction create the flow of wild horses running.
THis painting was not preconceived, it was an evolution of paint, time and energy.
