As the artist painting this piece the urgency of the horse racing spilled over into the bold contrasting colors in the background. The rising spirit of the horse dominates this composition, with color contrast a close second. I used a medium sized palette knife loaded with color enabling me to add dimension and depth to the painting. The horse has always symbolized a free spirit to me, a true helpmate of man, provided by God to enhance our lives. In this piece I sought to capture this energy using many hues that reflect energy with the warm colors in the background.
