The Castle Green Hotel is a local Pasadena landmark, now turned into an apartment building. The geraniums spilling from a balcony caught my eye - a profusion of color and joy. Only the palms suggest we are in California. Painted in a plein air style, my goal was to express both exuberance (with the color and brushwork) and serenity (by the solidity of the architecture.)
