This piece came together in a flurry---I had been inspired by my recent trip to Ireland, where it seems there are hundreds of black birds around the ancient cemeteries. Despite what you might think, I don't see this piece as a Halloween piece, but more of a timeless piece of the mythology surrounding life, death, and renewal. The piece was created with a combination of foam, ink, and acrylics. It has been given a somewhat weathered, rustic appearance. Colors are a deep barn red, black, white, grey, and purple.
