This is a revamped piece from earlier in the year that won a juried EBSQ Plus show "Epic". The piece was originally titled "Cave Canem" and was based on the mosaics in Pompeii that showed this chained dog and the words "Cave Canem" which mean "Beware of Dog." As much as I liked my pop art interpretation of the ancient mosaic, I felt it was missing something. I added the toy and retitled it "The Mighty Kong". My dog Angus loves to play with his Kong toy (he bounces it up and down the stairs to get the treats out), so I thought it was fitting. The piece is signed and dated by the artist, sealed with a protective finish, and wired so it can be hung on the wall right out of the box.
