This is my entry in the Nibblefest Art Contest, a themed art contest beginning on the 20th of each month. Please be sure to search for NFAC to see more great entries, each starting at just 99¢. This month's theme is Ancient Egypt - check it out. Thanks!
This piece is titled "Egyptian Hounds" and is painted to look like a bit of ancient Egyptian wall painting that's come straight out of a tomb --- all smoky from the tomb raiders' torches, with a strange spot right above the dogs' heads --- is some precious jewel under that soot, or is it actually missing something there, prised away by greedy hands?
The background of the piece is a dark barn red, the dogs are painted in rich metallic gold, and their collars are bright blue lapis. Overall is a coat of black --- smudged and worked to make the piece look old and worn.
The piece measures 9X12", is acrylics/mixed media on canvas board, and can either be popped into a standard sized frame or simply propped against your own Egyptian artifact. Thanks for looking!
