Having just finished reading my last profile I realized that it is awfully pretentious, therefore I feel required to rewrite it. So here goes.
I'm a lady who gave up art for almost 35 years and started painting again about 7 years ago. I do not have a large body of work although it is getting larger. I've discovered that I like to work in almost all media. I love pottery, clay sculpture and other forms of sculpture. I also love working in glass, either flame working it or fusing and slumping. Unfortunately I do not have the right kiln for glass so I've put that aside for now.
About 3 years ago I decided that to get better at my work I should practice and maybe take lessons again, so I decided to go back to school and get my fine arts degree, which I am now working on, while working on my art. Unfortunately I find that school frequently interferes with my work at home, not always but sometimes.
One of the things school has done for me is to help me discover that I love working in silver, copper and brass, mostly to make jewelry. I call it tiny sculptures. It is great fun and I'm enjoying working in the metals.
Also, I took up one of my long lost loves, photography. Fortunately I discovered that there are loads of great things in Northeast Texas to photograph, mostly really old, ragged barns. I love the old barns around here. So I'm taking lots of pictures of them.
I guess what it all comes down to it that I love all aspects of art and enjoy working in them. I will continue to do so and hope you enjoy what you can see.
Thanks, Janice .
