This is a mixed media shadowbox with a story behind it. The fairy you see has morphed from a mere butterfly. The miniature book that goes along with this piece is a picture play by play of her morphing from bug to beauty. I have used many different media in this piece, including handmade papers, paint, beads, silk, chiffon, ribbon, feathers...The fairy is hand sculpted; details of her face and hands have been painted in. Her hair is wool with bits of ribbon and threads, even a few feather strands, to add texture. She even has real butterfly wings! This is a one of a kind piece, and is signed and dated in the bottom left corner on the inside of the box.
