Art: Nor'Easter by Artist Doris H. David
The landscape may be captured in many ways...sometimes from a distance and sometimes from a very personal close-up perspective. This particular photo falls into the latter category and is very indicative of the way I generally depict landscapes.

In February 2001, we had a real nor 'easter of the legendary variety here in Connecticut. I wanted very much to be able to capture the actual flakes as they appeared in real life in my photograph.

It is my hope that the photo brings the viewer inside the storm and that he/she can actually feel the cold of the swirling snow and wind. I found the contrast between the density of the cedar tree in the foreground with the wispiness of the deciduous trees in the background rather intriguing, as well.

Something about this photograph puts me in mind of the kind of serenity one feels in oriental pieces.
