You and Your French Lover (look very happy together!)
Ooh la la! Here's a couple of whimsical characters...
This is another set of my matching 2 piece acrylic painted wine bottles. To achieve this look, I first remove the labels and clean the bottles, then I coat the bottles with two coats of white gesso, and then paint on the colors and details on top of that.
This set depicts a smiling woman wearing glossy red lipstick with big blue eyes and thick eyelashes, and a crazy purple hairdo on top of her head and the second (matching) piece depicts a French man wearing an orange beret, and sporting a beard and moustache and a "blank stare" expression on his face. Both have round spots of blush on their cheeks.
With these painted bottles, I use their cylindrical "3D" shape to my advantage, by making that shape the shapes of their heads, in a whimsical and cartoonish way.
Because the support used here are curved 3D objects, I also paint not just the "front" view, but also the "rear" view of the bottles, so that they can be turned around to display an entirely different view, effectively "doubling" the artwork, so-to-speak.
For a fun little surprise, when you turn the bottles around to the rear view, you see that their eyes are now closed and they appear to be sleeping... my idea was that whoever owns these will turn them around to face the wall at night when they go to sleep...
Some of the colors I used in this piece are: Purple, orange, blue-green, blue, fleshtone, red, yellow ochre, brown, black and white.
