Goldtipped stained glass globe votive holder
This is a very colorful abstract goldtipped stained glass painted globe that would be a beautiful votive holder for a candle. I would consider this method of stained glass painting to be "cold" glass.
I painted the top of this globe in a gold color that I though complimented the various colors of the stained glass. This would look stunning just sitting on a windowsill with or without a candle and with the sun's rays shinging through all the colors. The really cool thing about these pieces is you can actually see through one color to the next (on the other side of the glass).
It measures approx. 4x4.5" and the opening at the top is approx. 3" across.
I show several photos here from differing angles, since it looks quite different depending on which angle you view it from. Also included is a closeup for detail viewing.
I like to mix interesting colors to achieve the effect I"m after, and I must say, the colors in this piece are spectacular!
The technique I use to create these is this:
First, I lay down the black "liquid leading" outlines. Then after those are dry (overnight), I apply the colors to each individual section, meticulously with a toothpick(!), using it to blend and spread the colors all the way to the edges of the black outlines, making sure to pop any bubbles that occur along the way. Then, when I am satisfied with all the color it is left to "cure" or dry for about a week.
