Tiki tiki 2

This is another set of my matching 2 piece acrylic painted wine bottles. To achieve this look, I first remove the labels and clean the bottles, then I coat the bottles with two coats of white gesso, and then paint on the colors and details on top of that.

This particular set depicts 2 whimsical and fun Tiki Gods grimacing. The tops of their heads are painted light blue, and aqua, and they are further embellished and decorated with polka dots in 3D paint around the headpieces (giving the effect of lampshades on their heads!) They also have "war" paint on their cheeks in different designs (triangles on one & stripes on the other).

To obtain the "wood look" you see here, I simply painted a base coat with burnt sienna glaze, so that there are striated areas where you can almost see the white gesso showing through, for a wooden grain look.

Because the support used here are curved 3D objects, I also paint not just the "front" view, but also the "rear" view of the bottles, so that they can be turned around to display an entirely different view, effectively "doubling" the artwork, so-to-speak. The rear view shows them not quite as angry, in fact they do seem pleased.
