Fuzzy Logic
Fuzzy Logic is a large abstract piece, using only 3 colors; black (for the fuzzy lines) and tan (the glazed background) and cream or off-white for the 5 small sections that are painted.
I first used a glazing technique on the entire canvas using burnt umber, I basically rubbed it in, letting it settle into the nooks and crannies.
One of the most interesting things about this piece, is the fuzzy black lines, that remind me a bit of graffiti. The way I accomplished this was to drip the black lines down onto the canvas and then misted them with water until the black lines became very fuzzy.
Then I decided I wanted to have some sections that were a lighter, creamy color to set it all off, so I filled those 5 sections in with a combination of yellow ochre and white because pure white was just too harsh.
To finish it off, I painted the deep sides carbon black.
