Eye of the Beholder (2 pc. set of wine bottles)
This is another set of my matching 2 piece acrylic painted wine bottles. To achieve this look, I first remove the labels and clean the bottles, then I coat the bottles with two coats of white gesso, and then paint on the colors and details on top of that.
This 2 pc. set is based on an episode of Rod Serling's TV series; the "Twilight Zone", which was a collection of thought provoking tales ranging from the tragic to the comedic.
It's the episode titled: "Eye of the Beholder", which was a social commentary that dealt with physical beauty and "outcasts". In the plot, conventionally attractive or beautiful people were considered ugly & grotesque, & ugly people were considered beautiful(!) We come to see that beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.
Because the support I used here are curved 3D objects, I also paint not just the "front" view, but also the "rear" view of the bottles, so that they can be turned around to display an entirely different view, effectively "doubling" the artwork, so-to-speak. I decided to just place the facial features in a random order on the back view just for fun and whimsey, (the mouths are on top and the noses are skewed and the eyes are on the bottom)...
Some of the colors I used are: purple, blue, red, fleshtone, white and black. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
