Art: New Blue by Artist Christine Wasankari
This is a magnificient speciman growing in my yard. I wish I could take credit for it but it was here when I bought the house last year. It gets huge and I don't do a thing with it but cut blossoms for bouquets and dried flowers all summer long. The soil is naturally acidic here in western Washington with all the evergreens and hydrangea go crazy with growth and blossoms. With that acidity comes the beautiful variety of blue. I love the creamy blue centers as the flowers start to come forth and tried to capture the pure innocence and beauty in new growth with this piece. This photo was taken in early July of this year, 2006
