New painting from my landscape series of southern Colorado and the San Luis Valley and Northern New Mexico The Rio Grande headwaters begin in the San Juan mountains, just above the town of South Fork. It nurtures the high desert conditions in the San Luis Valley and carves an incredible canyon in northern New Mexico on the way to the gulf of Mexico. Beautiful country! This little homestead is up toward the humble headwaters of the mighty Rio Grande River.
