I didn't think I'd ever draw wine bottles again. The series I began a number of years ago was fast and furious, sold well and then left me to move on to something different. I knew when it felt like it was time (creatively) to move on to something else. A few months back a wonderful organization asked me if they could use my wine art as their centerpiece theme for their dinner art auction extravaganza. It was pretty exciting. And then people began to surface, asking if I have any wine pieces left. I searched my thinning portfolio to find there is nothing. It's a weird feeling contemplating going back to wine - again. I think about it differently. I'm warming up to the shapes and textures similarly (it's me after all, not some other person drawing out this) but I'm me now, not me then. When it comes down to it, I'm doing it for two reasons. One, I was asked and two, my dog has cancer and I'm hoping to pay for her upcoming vet bills. Motivation can be a good thing. That's how I'm going to look at the wine right now. So in the weeks to come, I'll be drawing more wine pieces.
