It's always fun to participate in the Ripped Off show and very often highly challenging too. To take another artist's work and put your own spin on in can often inspire you in directions you might never have gone in otherwise.
This year I have ripped off Diane Casey's Square Flowers painting. I love her combination of patterns and texture and really admire this piece.
In order to try and recreate the depth Diane achieved, I painted this piece in three layers with the finally layer being the background blue and green. This backward style of painting worked really well to achieve the result I wanted and I think I managed to make those flowers 'pop' out of the canvas just fine.
Thanks very much to Diane for letting me rip her work.. always a pleasure to do.
