Semi Colon: a Life Sentence

Art: Semi Colon: a Life Sentence by Artist Alma Lee
Yesterday, (March 30, 2017) Amy Bleuel 31 died. The name may not be familiar to you but Amy was the founder of the non profit Semi colon movement to help with those of us suffering from mental illness. She committed sucide....gut punch I know, and not without irony, that doesn't mean she failed but it does speak volumes to all of us of just how hard mental illness to live with, suffer with and overcome only to fall back in that black pit. So it is with respect for Amy and her semicolon movement, RIP Amy

A life sentence
little chance of parole
you yanked at your
boot strap, till they just let go

It in not your fault,
nor the unforgivable sin
despair cares not who you are
or where you've been

It lies in wait
will take in it's snare
You fought the battle
as brave as you dared

Your warrior soul fought
your darkening foe
dug in with all you had
never letting go

Yet the battle took
it's toll
You fell to the ground
as it swallowed your soul

Rest in peace now Amy
as you go you lifted the heads
 of many
a heart laid low

There is hope my friend
you showed me this
but a battle bigger than life
Powerful, and at times futile to resist...

But Christ welcomes you
all the same
come forth my child
be not ashamed...
