A few years back I read in one of my garden magazines to cut up some old rubber hose that you have lying about and lay them in your garden.  Garden pests such as rabbits are intimidated by them because they think that the hose is a snake.  Hmm No one said they couldn't be pretty and fun in the process. Quark the yellow snake is scary only to bunnies  and such,  The rest of us just kind of laugh!
