Warming Sun

- by Angela Melkis

This week's theme: Winter

Winter is here. It isn't just that the temperature has dropped, the entire landscape has changed. The light is different. The colours are different. The world in winter is as beautiful as it is unique.

For the next few weeks, Art Of The Day will be sharing some of the perspectives EBSQ artists have of this season.

Art: Warming Sun by Artist Angela Melkis
Although this is primarily a snow scene, the feel and colours are warm. The trees are stylised, and their warm black trucks sit bold against the neutral greys of the snow. The top branches glow warm brown and burnt orange against the pale salmon sky. The style lies somewhere between impressionism and abstraction, and would sit well in a traditional or more contemporary interior. The work is painted with high quality artists acrylics, onto a quality gallery wrapped box canvas. The sides are staple and pin free, with so there is no need to frame. The work is protected with 2 layers of special artists varnish. The colours used are neutral greys, warm blacks, chocolate browns, burnt and pale oranges, pale yellow for the sun. Due to the hours and materials invested by the artist a reserve is set at £75.00.
