Clockwork Beetle - real insect wings - a steampunk necklace

- by ClockworkZero

This week's theme: The Eye Of The Beholder

Many people say they like art, but most don't like all art. What is considered pleasing, what is considered good - even what is considered art, varies according to who is having the experience. This week, EBSQ's Art of the Day brings you a variety of art that is diverse in media, genre, style and purpose. We hope that you enjoy the experience.

Art: Clockwork Beetle - real insect wings - a steampunk necklace by Artist ClockworkZero
I've been working on this piece for ages - literally trying to find exactly the right "head" for it and I must have taken it apart twenty times or more. lol. Finally i found exactly the right piece and it all came together! I'm now working on another different one. The beautiful chrome green wings come from an actual beetle - they are "green Jewel Beetle" wings - from the family Buprestidae. They are an irredescent chrome green and quite durable. I am taking a very few commissions on this style of piece and have them occasionally listed on my www.clockworkzero.etsy.com site.
