Hippaelectryon

- by Heather Sims

This week's theme: Sample Platter

Sometimes you just can't decide what you want. Everything looks so good you don't know what to order. In moments like this, the Sample Platter is often the perfect solution. This week EBSQ's Art of the Day chose the Sample Platter. We hope you enjoy the variety of art that we have selected.

Art: Hippaelectryon by Artist Heather Sims

This is my entry for Nibblefest theme of “2 or more creatures mixed together”.  I thought a lot about this theme.  I knew I like to paint chickens and other farm animals.   I found the Hippalectryon!   A fantasy creature from Ancient Greece that is half horse and half rooster with yellow feathers.  The front half is horse and the rear a rooster.   This mythological creature dates back to 9th century BCE and is notably seen on vase paintings, some currency and a few literary works.

This is my version!   Perfect for horse and chicken art lovers alike.. Heck.. you get 2 in 1!  What more could you ask for??  Black horse combined with a copper maran rooster!

A joy to paint!  Would make a great gift for an art and/or animal lover.  Very unique!

  Thank you for looking!
