A form of art that depicts objects or scenes from everyday life and employs techniques of commercial art and popular illustration.

In the mid-20th century, artists began to explore the consumer culture. They found their inspiration in the images of popular culture. Their use of things such as products, advertisements, comic strips and celebrities resulted in the blurring of the line between commercial and fine art.
