Door Cat

This week, in conjunction with EBSQ's Pet Portrait Swap, Art Of The Day looks at the different animals that populate our lives. This week, we focus on cats.

We've all seen it. Our elegant, sure footed cat sleeping along the top of the couch. He stirs, stretches and suddenly disappears as he falls off the back. Even if presented with video evidence, the cat will deny that the incident ever happened. It's these moments, along with purrs, head butts and critical stares that make living with a cat such a pleasure.

This is one of my grandaughter's cats. The front door they have has an outer door which has glass panels and the cats are constantly checking the outdoors. Early morning sun really made this glow so I had to paint it. I tried to take a photo when he first went there but as I snapped the camera he turned his head the other way but I think I made it work. Painted on 300# cold press Arches w/c paper with Windsor Newton watercolors.
