Art of the Day: Monday August 15, 2005

Curiosity

- by Rosemary Margaret Daunis

This week's theme: Pets

This week, in conjunction with EBSQ's Pet Portrait Swap, Art Of The Day looks at the different animals that populate our lives. This week, we focus on cats.

We've all seen it. Our elegant, sure footed cat sleeping along the top of the couch. He stirs, stretches and suddenly disappears as he falls off the back. Even if presented with video evidence, the cat will deny that the incident ever happened. It's these moments, along with purrs, head butts and critical stares that make living with a cat such a pleasure.

Art: Curiosity by Artist Rosemary Margaret Daunis
The way the fish are looking at the cats became the title of this painting. It didn't occur to me until I nearly finished the painting that a fish can be curious as well as a cat. Sometimes a painting creates itself while I'm concentrating on colors and details. I just think it's amusing how this happens.
