Art: Baa, Baa by Artist Carol Thompson
"Baa, Baa"

"Two black sheep graze in a grassy meadow. Does this bring to mind an old nursery rhyme that begins; 'Baa, baa, black sheep...'?"

Artist comment: "I spend a lot of time in Tillamook, Oregon, a wonderful farming community on the Oregon coast. On one occasion I spied, in a bright green grassy meadow, a pair of black sheep. They were quietly grazing in the mid-summer sunshine. I determined that pastel would be the ideal medium by which to capture the intense contrast of dark and light while at the same time interpreting the silky texture of their wooly coats. I used soft pastel on Canson Mi-Teintes paper.
