Art of the Day: Sunday October 21, 2007

in a frogs eye

- by W. Kevin Murray

This week's theme: Macro Photography

The art of taking extreme close up pictures of subjects to bring enhancement of details and textures. Often rendering an object in such tight focus the viewer begins to question what exactly he/she is seeing.

I'm fortunate, being the nature lover that I am, to have a lake within walking distance from my home. Although, if I can't decide which lens to use or do I need a tripod or not, I load up everything into the car and drive. I'm glad I did this day, because this frog was being very patient with me while I changed from a fixed telephoto to a 180mm Macro lens on my Canon 10D. While most of the other amphibians leapt back into the water upon my approach, my friend pictured here stayed quietly still, barely blinking it's swirled black and yellow eye as he allowed me to capture his image.
