Polyhedral Mosaic Necklace, Argentium Silver, Black Onyx, 4-Sided Dice

- by John Wik

This week's theme: Gem Stones

Precious, semi-precious... we love them all and go to great lengths to free them from the earth.

Art: Polyhedral Mosaic Necklace, Argentium Silver, Black Onyx, 4-Sided Dice by Artist John Wik
This gorgeous necklace was created by attaching triangle black onyx cabochons to 4-sided plastic dice. The dice have little recessed areas, and by some miraculous twist of fate the triangle cabs fit perfectly. I then caged each dice in Argentium Silver and linked them together to form this striking necklace. The name arrived while securing the black onyx cabs - I felt like I was creating a 3D mosaic using polyhedral shapes, so naturally I named it Polyhedral Mosaic! It weighs precisely 5.9 ounces and measures 16 inches in length along the innermost circumference. Jump rings and clasp of sturdy 18 gauge half-hard sterling silver wire for durability.
