Art: Indigenous by Artist john christopher borrero

January became the month for me to look at my art in a different way.

In art, I always set out to see everyday items in a new way, and and to find the meaning that is already in them. That didn't change this month. What was different this month is that I challenged myself to bring this forth in another medium. I tried to present my view of the world... dark, intimate, stark, but with honesty and vulnerability... through my lens.

This picture… of a mango, was named “Indigenous” by a friend in Venezuela, who, upon seeing the picture, said she was reminded of the beautiful indigenous women of her country.

This picture was taken with a Minolta Maxxum 7 Camera on Manual Focus Setting with a Macro Lens and tripod. It was taken on my kitchen table, which was lit by a candle.
