Thinking about the first day of school around here is what inspired this piece. All the kids in my neighborhood always gathered to wait for the bus on the first day. All of us Moms would be there with our cameras and if it was our first experience, our tears. I have pictures of first day of school for every year and all the kids are posing in their brand new clothes and shoes. I miss it. Those are the feelings that went into this painting.
