The shortest day of the year has come and gone. We are certainly closer to spring than we were then, but it feels like we are in the darkest, coldest part of the year. Because we have a stretch of winter yet to go, here are a few things about the season that will always be worth appreciating.

We had a bit of ice back in Dec. and since I didn't have to drive in it I enjoyed it by taking a few shots! This is an old thistle head that's been transformed by the ice. Taken with my Panasonic Lumix digital camera ~ macro setting
