Charcoal Rooster

- by Kim Loberg

This week's theme: ACEOs

ACEO means Art Card Editions and Originals. If you don't already know what they are that first sentence is as clear as mud. An ACEO is a small work of art whose dimensions measure 2.5 x 3.5. They are the size of baseball cards and fit in a card collector's sleeve. Originally these small works of art were just traded among artists. When traded these works are called ATCs or Artist Trading Cards. Eventually Lisa Luree (http://www.lisaluree.com) and other artists wanted to create the art cards to be sold. Lisa created the Art Card Editions and Originals group on eBay and ACEOs took off. There are now many artists that create ACEOs and many more who collect them.

I love working in charcoal. To get the most detail, I use a charcoal pencil. This little ACEO Rooster was finished with a soft pastel pencil to give the background some color.
