I love texture in my paintings and often use a palette knife to build up many layers, using a special gel I mix with the oils to give the paint even more body and dimension. Painting with a knife is a diffrent skill than brush painting, takes a bit to get the knack of it, but it delivers a texture nothing else can. This work is of a lavender farm in Provence; I wanted to capture that certain time of day when the world is just awakening, when the sun begins to peep a golden glow over the hills. I can almost smell the morning sweetness of rows of lavernder ! :) Hope you enjoy it, and thanks for stopping to look~
