Have you noticed how the Mayan calendar's predicted end of an era at the Winter Solstice of 2012 has transmogrified into a full-blown predicition for a Zombie Apocalypse? What does that look like? I bet you, dear friends, have a fair idea. We want to see your best artist depiction of all things zombie and apocalypse related. And should the world continue to turn (sans zombies) past the 21st of December, our juror, Robb Padgett, will pick his favourite and a $150 cash prize shall be awarded.
Alright! My Juror's Choice Award Winner is…
Peelings, Nothing More Than Peelings.
While it's true that I'm a sucker for a good pun, I actually chose Windi Rosson's piece because it felt to me as if it were a zombie's self-portrait. One that's introverted but nonjudgmental. It reminds me of that first time I look in the mirror in the morning, the moment before I have the mental facilities to form an opinion about what I see.
Ugly and honest.
Honorable mentions for Christine E Streimer's Almost Mostly Dead, for being the moment AFTER the moment mentioned above; and Nico Niemi's Apocalypse2012, for making me hungry.
Robb Padgett is a new-media potentate living in Los Angeles. His webseries Vampire Zombie Werewolf and Life from the Inside have been viewed millions of times and have been liked by dozens.
