Art: Tree II by Artist Christina Rahm Galanis
The Tree of life is an ancient archetypal symbol for resurrection and eternal life. In north European mythology, however, the World Ash was a huge tree connecting the upper and lower regions of the cosmos. The roots of the tree sat just above the well of wisdom. One of the Gods hung himself in this tree due to his vein belief he would be able to read in runes. This actual painting was not planned to show the old mythical tree, but is more of a private symbolic image trying to express an abstract and spiritual vision of the life in a tree, seen with the inner eye. The root system is as alive as the top, and the trunk is spinning around, along with the sun cycle. In an opening towards blue space, the moon is caught in what is no more than a frozen moment.
