In today’s world, cremation is selected as often as burial; for pets the number is higher. Many are not interred, but brought home. Because of this, more and more people are turning away from the stark and often ugly mass produced urns and choosing instead one of a kind, artist made urns. They are choosing urns that are beautiful, unique and reflect the character of the life that was lived.

With the Urn Show, we invite and encourage EBSQ artists to explore this rapidly growing type of art. There may be no art created that is more personal or meaningful, particularly when it is created for specific individuals and those who loved them. It is not to be seen as morbid or sad, but rather as an exquisite tribute to the value a life that has been lived and to those who love and remember.

Please feel free to use any material you wish to create your entry. The purpose of this show is to explore so create anyway you wish, but please keep in mind - all entries in the Urn Show are to be functional in addition to being works of art.

We strongly recommend all artists include in their statement information about why and how they chose to create their piece, as statements can enhance the experience for the online viewer. We also encourage you to include detail shots of your entries. This will allow the viewer to fully appreciate your work as small details can be lost in an online environment.

Eligible entries must meet all points of the prospectus. If you have any questions regarding the prospectus and its requirements, please send them to edu@ebsqart.com.
