Devorgilla is the name given to the bridge built in the Middle Ages crossing the Nith in Dumfries. It has quite a history and is one of the oldest bridges in Scotland still being used, albeit as only a pedestrian route.
On the day I took this shot I had been wandering around Dumfries desperate to test out my new camera. I took a few poor shots and was actually on my way home when the old gas-type lanterns led my eye to a fairy tale view, one which Doonhamers (the locals) will rarely notice. Getting the depth of field right wasn't easy; the bridge itself dominates the shot. However I am pleased with this one.
The original photograph was altered in Photoshop to give it a pencil drawn look. The result is so subtle it can only really be seen when looked at close up.
The print is one of a small limited edition (1/25) printed on canvas textured super A3 size paper.
