This was a doorway I spotted while we drove through very old town near Norfolk, VA. Holland is a town that looks like time forgot it--there are many wonderful brick buildings and an old barber shop that looks like it's still in the 20's. I loved this building because it took a back alley and turned it from mundane into a wonderful sight. If you took a walk in Holland, you'd probably never look twice at this humble building but it fits into the whole of the town in a special way. Rust from the gutters, a red back door, a dirty window, some graffiti and an old electric meter created a surprising beauty.
This is a digital photo from my Canon EOS Rebel SLR, and it's not drastically manipulated other than doing necessary cropping.
