The wonderful spirals on this art deco steel door attracted me, as well as the contrast created by the red sign (Garage exit, no parking) in an otherwise almost monochromatic image. The inevitable decay of man-made materials is what defines the city for me. Rust, peeling paint, holes, rivets all give textural interest to the piece. I took care to frame the image a little off-center so it wouldn't be too symmetrical. Taken last summer in Reims, France with a digital Sony W5, with some minor Photoshop color work.
