This ring was made to capture the bold and independent nature of Celtic women. While the Greeks and Romans were making statues to the beauty of women, women had very little power in these societies, While in the Celtic lands of the barbarian north women were tribal and village leaders. The voice of these women leaders was revered, Their knowledge and wisdom was legendary. Their independence and leadership was brought to an end with intolerance and brutality of Greco/Roman male only dominated culture under the Imperial Catholic Church .Using the witch hunts to grab power and silence women elders and leaders it is no wonder that this unwise act helped to ushered in the dark ages of Europe. Only now are the women of the western world regaining this power. And sad It is when something as treatable as breast cancer is silencing the voice of today's women. I made my contribution to this cause as I could not have achieved my skills or knowledge if not for the guidance and strength of the women I have known or met in my journey of life. This bold ring represents the woman leader of today and captures that primal power in handworked silver with a touch of refined lady in the faceted pink tourmaline. I used a triple sided tourmaline stone to represent the mystic trinity or phases of womanhood; fertile young maiden, adult woman and mother, wise crone and elder. Keltic Lady in Pink; This ring was hammered and worked as a flat piece from sterling silver using primitive handmade tools. After all the design work was finished it was folded around a ring mandrel and fused together with high tempter silver solder over a wood charcole fire. This makes for a bond that is permeant. This ring Has been heat tempered for strength three times and will not bend. The pink Tourmaline is about 7 mm across the base of the triangle all sides. The ring band is 13 mm wide at top and 7 mm wide at base. It has a very solid but light feel on the hand. This is a very bold work and will get attention.
