I guess I would have to call myself a mid-career artist. I've seen younger artists make names for themselves, and indeed, I've had a number of shows, awards, a book, and even a newspaper article. But none of my work has really made the "big time" or garnered thousands of dollars and I've always had to supplement my income with odd jobs. I guess there are many actors, but only a few stars. This piece was executed almost entirely in watercolor pencils on my newly-acquired watercolor block. It actually started out as just a doodle, an attempt to see how far I could go with the new paper. I'm not really sure where I was going with it, but guess my mind had been on the theatre/performance subject matter of the new EBSQ show. My work often evolves like that, totally undisciplined.
