This pendant was inspired from Egyptian ornaments. They sometimes used tear drop shapes with two swirls on top, the result looks a bit like an insect. I'm not sure if it's meant to be a beetle or not but I liked it so I thought I'd make a pendant based on it. I decided to use a carnelian stone because it is a gemstone they used in their own jewelry. The stone setting is unconventional but it worked out and helps to convey the theme.
