I designed this piece to resemble a circus poster or sideshow banner from the very early days of the circus...with a twist. Throught the history of the circus, many small time sideshow operators painted their own banners out of necessity. Lacking the money to pay a professional artist, many of these operators took brush in hand and did the best they could. I wanted this piece to evoke the look of a homemade banner or poster.
I often can't resist the urge to add a bit of humor to my art. I suppose it was the recent problems of Martha Stewert that caused this idea to pop into my mind. I like to create art that is a bit off the mainstream, and this is yet another example.
