Redhead Girl with a Red Bow
This piece is a self-portrait from a session of painting with fellow ebsq artist Amanda Hone from the U.K.
Amanda was here in New York City to attend the ArtExpo show and it was my pleasure to finally meet her! We had quite an action-packed week full of artistic pursuits which culminated in a creative day of painting together. We were both inspired and motivated to do self-portraits in a fun and abstract style... This piece is my representation of our painting session.
In actuality, I do, in fact, have red hair and blue eyes, but I don't wear bows in my hair, nor do I wear eye shadow or makeup. Also, while I can, at times, be a total "couch potato", I am not usually "part of the furniture" as I am pictured here, but after trekking all over the city this past week, my body was aching to sink deep into the sofa and just relax, so I decided to take creative license and just paint it that way! ;)
There is a huge amount of texture in this piece and the colors are even more vibrant in person.. The background looks silverish-gray, but is really payne's gray (a bluish gray) mixed with titanium white, which I think makes for a wonderful textural background. The small number 5 above my hand has significance because Amanda was here for 5 days and I miss her already!
Come back soon, Amanda! :)
