The Jack Rabbit Trading Post still stands today strategically located next to nothing. It is one of my favorite places on Route 66. It amazes me that this little place has remained an attraction for so long. There are no five star hotels or resorts in Joseph City, Arizona. Just a lone almost shack of a store with friendly owners and a big fiberglass bunny that begs to be hopped on.
I designed this piece to resemble a vintage postcard. It features the famous "Here It Is" sign and the fiberglass rabbit that sits in front of the store to greet its customers. The pin up style girl symbolizes the seductive allure that Route 66 had on so many. There is also a map of Route 66 at the bottom of the piece showing its beginning in Chicago, Illinois to its end in Santa Monica, California. Of course, there is a bunny icon in Arizona that identifies the location of the Jack Rabbit Trading Post in Joseph City.
